New “Facelift” Sprinter Ambulances hit the road!

The new model was only released in late October 2013 and initial base vehicles hit the Mader production line by mid November 2013. In a production run of 15 ambulances built and delivered through December 2013, three of these were actually the AWD model as pictured.

The new “Facelift” model provided some initial challenges for Mader to overcome quickly to ensure the fit out could incorporate the added features provided by Mercedes Benz and at the same time ensure that the emergency equipment, communications and electrical systems required by the ambulance services could seamlessly be included in the fit out. One of the major challenges was the relocation of the sophisticated larger “double din” Mercedes radio module to the overhead console to ensure the Ambulance Services could continue to install their MDT systems without changes. Developing bracketing, new console mouldings, extensive extensions to Mercedes OE radio harnesses were just some of the challenges overcome by the Mader team.
